scolded for wearing shorts. "its against the dress code"

-black or khaki shorts, no more than one inch above the knee are allowed- that what my orientation packet said.

no short, carpi, or water at my lane. the ventilation is horrible in the store, it gets to 8o and higher easily on a spring day, and with this upcoming summer it will easily get to 90 in the front of the store. we aren't allowed to sit down when no one is waiting in our line. we must be standing, that i can understand. but not being allowed to have water or wear shorts, on a hot summer day someone is going to pass out.

bagers and garden center workers can wear shorts, than why cant cashiers. i feel this is unfair.

I've been at meijer for less than 2 months and im already looking for another job. with the dress code, the no water rule, poor scheduling and and mandatory stay over when they dont have enough people schedule to work and many other things that make work difficult. i will never recommend Meijer as a place to work.

My store allows water upfront, although we are reminded that we should have it in a clear bottle with a screw-on cap.. it isn’t mandatory because I have a double insulated steel jug that I keep my water in.

And while the pants thing is a major issue with summer heat, I and a couple coworkers have bought fans that we can use at the registers/self checks. I, personally, do NOT handle heat well. The warmer it is, the hotter I get, and the more miserable I feel.. I get very irritable, very quickly when forced to deal with the heat.

I refuse to work like that. Hence why I’ve bought a good, heavy duty, little fan and an insulated water jug for work use.

What a whiner. No wonder people from other countries take your jobs.

They're not afraid to work.

Believe me, adding another foot or two to the length of your pants will NOT kill you.

Most companies have dress codes, they have a certain image they want to maintain.

When I worked for IBM we all HAD to wear full suits (not sport coats), long sleeve white shirts and ties. We lived through it.

Quit whining and do your job like a real American should.

Get a doctors note saying you are overheated and dehydrate easily. Then it becomes a health matter and they must comply.Alot of people do get sick from the heat in fact some have died from it.Stand your ground. Then if they let you go you have medical grounds to sue.

Or they could do what you did when you got fired, lie and say that your boss sexually harassed you and made sexual advances towards you. Isn't that what you did when they fired you from Hobby Lobby and you were angry that they just suspended him with pay while investigating instead of firing him because you said it happened. That may work as well.

You are there to work not pick up men, so go by the dress code. If you work in the garden center you are out in the sun all day long so it is appropriate to wear shorts.

Never mentioned anything about picking up men but thanks for playing.

As a cashier, I agree. But I also must disagree.

My store is different. We can have water even though it's technically not allowed. Our managers say water in a clear water bottle is fine. Women can wear black or khaki skirts, inside the store ans out in the garden center.

But, while I agree that we should be allowed long shorts, I get why it can be a safety hazard. But then why allow skirts? My main issue with the uniform is how tacky and unflattering the polos are.

I've suggested meijer t-shirts in men and women's styles, because cheaper and better/more modern looking. But hey that's not gone anywhere.

You are allowed to wear shorts, but just not too short, stop dressing like a *** and follow the dress code.
