Meijer - CHECK PERISHABLE DATES!
This is an ongoing battle with the Westland, MI Meijer. They do NOT check the dates on refrigerated items when restocking the shelves.
I have REPEATEDLY taken yogurt, milk, sour cream and cottage cheese up to the service desk and showed them that some of these products were more than 10 days PAST the "sell by" dates. I have taken a supervisor back to show her an entire row full of expired yogurt. Another time, I did the same with the STORE MANAGER who apologized and said he would take care of it and have a meeting with the dairy staff. Guess what?
I purposely went back the next day to check, and the same yogurt was STILL there! I have called corporate and they take the information and say "Someone will get back with you." Well, someone did....the SAME supervisor at the store that I had complained to in person!
For your safety, either buy your refrigerated items elsewhere or, at least, check the dates yourself before purchasing.

Uhh.. I thought that selling expired items was illegal.
(At least it is in the retail store I work at.) Today, May 2, 2014, I bought a Twix candy bar that was expired 09/2013. It wasn't such a big deal because candy tends to last forever, but it was a bit hard...which prompted me to check on the expiration date in the first place.
I wish they would check on their food items... This places people at risk for getting sick and such.
The point of my comment was that you went back the next day to check it out. In my opinion that was overkill. It must be nice to not have anything more important to do with your time.
Actually, I was doing shopping for two elderly, housebound women the next day, so I DO have other things to do with my time. What do you do with your time other than scan the posts to make negative replies?
Or perhaps you work in the Meijer dairy department?
I have discovered that this site is more about nay-sayers like you than people who honestly want to inform others.
Reply if you want. I won't be around to read it.
So over people like you.
What are you, the store expiration date police???
No, I am not. I just think people should be aware so they can make their own decisions.
I really don't understand the point of your comment.
Have a nice day.
Thanks for the 'heads up.' I used to have the same expiration date issues in my area with the Dominicks grocery chain.. They have all since closed.
Nice stores, prices too high, and every other item I wanted to purchase was expired or very near to it. so far, so good with our neighborhood Meijer.
